Buddy's Page

Hello, my name is Buddy. I am a German Shepherd and I am the 3rd smartest dog. We won't talk about 1 and 2. Honestly, I don't see how they rate higher than me.

I would like to tell you a little about the temperament of a German Shepherd dog.

German Shepherds are highly active dogs, fearless, but not hostile and often are described in breed standards as self-assured and never shy. We have a willingness to learn. Shepherds can become over-protective of their family and territory, especially if not socialized correctly. Due to our loyal temperament, Shepherds bond well with children we know. While typically approachable, Shepherds do not become immediate friends with strangers. German Shepherds are highly obedient and not easily distracted, but due to our self-strong will, we must be trained by a firm hand. Like most large breeds, Shepherds can be aggressive and uncontrollable if not trained correctly.

Sometimes we need help training our owners right. Either way, there is e-book is loaded with information, called Best German Shepherd Owner's Manual that will get both of us on the right track. Too bad we both don't come with an owner's manual.

A Day in the Life of a Dog

Now, I would like to share with you a typical day is in the life of Buddy Boy Mertens. First thing in the morning, I wake up and if I am lucky, I get to put my wet nose on my owner's mouth. It is the best way to wake them up.

Once I am put outside, my dog dish is filled up with food. I will get this twice a day. Sometime, during the course of the day, I will usually get two or three walks. In between, I am in the backyard chasing squirrels. I do have some toys that I allow my owners to play with from time to time. Later at night, I watch my owners sitting and staring at this black box with flashy pictures and loud noises coming out of it. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me, but they seem to enjoy it. Much later, everyone goes to bed.
